Calderstones School is a comprehensive school in the Liverpool suburb of Allerton
The school was founded in 1921 as Quarry Bank High School for Boys and has several notable former pupils, including founding Beatles member John Lennon, music producer Guy Chambers and the architect Sir James Stirling.
During the consultation, the school expressed a keen interest in developing a DJ Skills offer in order to encourage younger pupils to take more of an active role in the department. They also requested support to deliver Bandlab as they currently do not have any music production software in school.
Delivery
Between May 9th – July 14th 2022we delivered 4 x 30minute DJ skills sessions each week working with 4 pupils across the 10-week period. The school were loaned a Macbook, running Rekordbox software, and a Pioneer DDJ 400 controller

The school have opted to continue DJ skills Development and have asked for support purchasing the equipment required to continue DJ skills development after the project has ended
The school opted to continue DJ skills Development for the duration of their engagement with the project and between April 22 - Nov 22 we delivered a total of 16 weekly sessions to 7 aspiring DJs.
BANDLAB CPD
The school did not have a music production offer in place at the start of the Digital Strand Project. Computers and Digital Audio Workstations were not utilised in school. We have supported them to establish a Bandlab pilot project working with a cohort of 30 pupils.
